Sometimes we are so focused on achieving a goal or a target that we forget to focus on the steps that we need to take in order to get us there. We see ourselves fantasising about being in the moment when we have achieved the goal, we imagine what it would be like, how we would feel and try imagining the experience of relief that comes with achievement. We focus our minds on the satisfaction and the success, detailing every aspect through rose tinted spectacles.
This is our mistake. We have forgotten that we have yet to take a step towards achieving our goal and have not yet even set upon the path. Or we have fantasised over every aspect of success and fallen behind on the path. A vital blunder made by many but realised by very few until all the fantasies that were so intricately decorated with feelings of satisfaction and pride crash to the ground and our worlds seem to seep into the darkness of failure.
We get a very rude awakening that we dreamt of our success so much that we jinxed it ourselves. Dreams are shattered and the painful reality is faced with teary eyes and angry words. We feel cheated and cannot fathom how this came to be, but in our hearts we only know too well. If we are to correct our ways and reduce the fantasising and focus then we shall not face such a reality. The fantasising needs to be replaced with centring our minds on taking the steps on the path to success. Keep in mind the end goal but don’t think you’ve achieved it just yet, for it shall still be out of reach until you have hiked the long and arduous path towards it.
